Re: Bulk filetype change

I, too, have this problem, and would be willing to help with any modifications. It seems like a huge missing feature. I, like you, have 500+ articles that I need to define as custom filetypes.

Re: filetype change

Here's an idea that might work:

  • Import all your files to the cms (will be plain text filetype)
  • Export all of the files using the database export tool (exports everything as a zip file that contains the files themselves and one file called manifest.xml)
  • The manifest.xml file contains an entry for each file, including a definition of the filetype. Change this value to your new filetype (simple to do with search and replace, one step)
  • Zip everything up again and import using the database administration tool

I haven't tried this but it is crazy enough that it just might work.

Re: filetype change

Nope, the above doesn't work. Now that I have imported 600 files into OCMS and changed the filetype of each one by hand I realize that I need to change the file extension of each one of them from .xml to .html in order for them to be parsed properly by a browser when using the singlefile contentload parameter. Ugh.

These are deal breakers for OCMS implementation that are not obvious when reviewing the application. I would recommend to others not to use OCMS but to stick with a RDB model CMS until these types of (very large) problems are worked out.
